Lesbian Visibility Week Comes to Greater Palm Springs with Community-Wide Celebration

The Coachella Valley is set to ignite with Pride and purpose as it officially recognizes Lesbian Visibility Week, April 20–26, 2026. In a collaboration between The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert, the LGBTQ History & Archives of the Desert, and Greater Palm Springs Pride, the organizations announced today a week-long schedule of events affirming the art, stories, and advocacy of lesbians. The programs are inspired by the mission of The Curve Foundation’s National Lesbian Visibility Week.

Residents and visitors are invited to participate in a lineup of cultural and social events designed to honor the past while building a more inclusive, equitable future. All events serve as a call to action to ensure lesbians and all sapphic and queer women, as well as non-binary people who identify with the community, are seen, heard, and valued across all sectors of society. Community-centered events include a film screening night at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, a wine tasting, and social engagements. See the complete schedule at www.thecentercv.org/LVW2026

The absolute must-see highlight of the week premieres Tuesday, April 21, as the Welwood Murray Memorial Library proudly debuts: "Trailblazing Lesbians of the Coachella Valley."  This isn’t just an exhibit; it’s a vibrant celebration of a legacy built on grit, leadership, and heart. These extraordinary women built our community, fought for visibility, and fearlessly paved the way for the LGBTQ+ voices of today and tomorrow. Icons featured include Barbara Carpenter, Gail Christian, Lucy DeBardelaben, Ruth Debra, Marjorie Main, Joani Hannan, and Melinda Tremaglio. Don't miss the chance to honor these pioneers and see how their resilience changed the desert forever!
