Palm Springs Pride

Job Description


Professional Qualifications Required: 

- Dynamic, entrepreneurial, proven leader with at least 5 years of senior-level management and large-scale event production experience

- Ability to lead through growth and challenges, with proven conflict resolution skills

- Demonstrated ability to work with a mission-driven organization, particularly with volunteers

- Strategic planning and analysis ability

- Strong motivational and team-building skills

- Demonstrated project management experience

- Financial management experience with budgets over $1.0 million

- Demonstrated proficiency in fundraising, including corporate partnerships and grant-writing.

-Excellent internal and external communication skills, including public speaking, presentation, and writing skills

- General knowledge of technology and information management systems

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in relevant field

- History of working with the LGBTQ+ community, with a thorough knowledge of and commitment to LGBTQ+ issues

- Ability to work with community partners and the organization’s diverse constituents

- Enthusiasm and dedication to inspire staff, volunteers, and donors

- Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software

- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.


MAJOR FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES


Board of Directors Relations

  1. Work in partnership with the CEO and committees on issues, policies, and strategic direction 

  2. Provide complete, effective, and timely information to the CEO and Board of Directors

  3. Develop annual staff work plans to carry out the strategic plan


Organizational Management & Leadership 

  1. Develop and sustain programming consistent with the mission and strategic plan of Palm Springs Pride 

  2. Recruit, orient, supervise, and train staff/ volunteers, pursuant to organizational policy and procedures 

  3. Motivate staff and volunteers in accomplishing responsibilities and goals through empowerment and teamwork 

  4. Provide oversight in matters of technology and work with the CEO and Board to address the ongoing operational needs of Palm Springs Pride 


Finance 

  1.  Develop and manage organizational budget in partnership with the CEO and Board of Directors 

  2. Ensure maintenance of internal controls and financial procedures; legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions 

  3. Working with the CEO, prepare and maintain regular financial reports 

  4. Assist in the development of long-term financial planning and analysis, including investment management 


Resource Development 

  1. Secure resources needed to support the organization’s mission and strategic plan through annual events, sponsorships, individual and major donor cultivation, and grant writing 

  2. Develop and expand relationships with corporate donors 


External Relations and Outreach 

  1. Provide leadership to the LGBTQ+ community by developing innovative ways to provide programs to the community by leveraging the organization’s resources 

  2. Develop and provide oversight for organizational communication and marketing plans 

  3. Support organizational partnerships and programming in conjunction with partners 

  4. Represent the organization in public and work to increase its awareness 

  5. Cultivate and maintain mutually beneficial key relationships on behalf of the organization through outreach and collaboration across the community

  6. General knowledge of marketing and social networking 


About

Palm Springs Pride has been an advocate for equality and diversity in Palm Springs since 1986. The organization’s signature event, the annual Pride Parade and Festival, has grown from a small grassroots march for equal rights to Palm Springs’ largest event and the largest celebration of human rights in the Coachella Valley.
